HMD Global, the exclusive licensee for Nokia, a well-known mobile company, is set for a revamp across its product line. The company has updated its online channels from 'Nokia Mobile' to 'HMD', indicating a massive shift from its years of Nokia product lines. The Finnish firm has been manufacturing phones for the company since 2016.

HMD said it will adopt a multi-brand approach and added that the product line will include 'HMD Originals', Nokia phones and a range of other products. "You will continue to see new Nokia phones," the firm noted. However, the social accounts have been rebranded to incorporate the updated branding with a focus on HMD.

"We're still makers of Nokia smartphones and Nokia 'dumbphones,' we're getting warmed up to bring you even more, including original HMD devices, and phones from all-new partnerships," the company noted in its official blog post. HMD said that users can still buy Nokia smartphones, tablets and other accessories from its website, and these models will get support during their warranty period.

For the unaware, after purchasing Nokia from Microsoft in 2014, HMD started manufacturing Nokia smartphones as the mobile maker realigned its focus to Networks. In 2016, the brand received the license to mass-produce Nokia-branded mobile phones and smartphones. As a result of the HMD-Nokia deal, the Nokia 6 was the first smartphone launched in 2017.

Speaking on the latest development, Ravi Kunwar, VP of India and APAC, HMD Global said: "You will get to see unique HMD originals, the Nokia phones that you've always loved, and some super exciting partnerships that we can't wait to reveal."

The first smartphones from the company's rebranded lineup may see the light of the day at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. One of the smartphones in the lineup may sport a 108MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS).
