Activision is stepping up its fight against cheaters as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 moves through its beta testing phase. In a detailed update this week, the publisher outlined what it calls its most advanced anti-cheat measures ever—built around significant upgrades to its in-house Ricochet system. The goal, Activision says, is simple: to ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of competition.

Tougher PC Requirements in Beta
For PC players, the beta came with strict new rules. To join, participants had to enable both TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot — the same hardware-based protections seen in the Battlefield 6 beta. These requirements help prevent unauthorised software from tampering with gameplay, though they may pose hurdles for those using older or custom-built rigs. Players with unsupported systems might need a firmware update or even a separate TPM module before jumping in.
Next Step: Remote Attestation
Once Black Ops 7 officially launches on November 14, Activision plans to roll out an additional safeguard known as Remote Attestation. This system remotely verifies that a player’s device is operating in a secure and approved state. If it detects anything unusual, it can flag that machine for further review. Combined with Ricochet’s improved detection tools and the new hardware requirements, the publisher says this program represents its most complete anti-cheat approach yet.
Activision also confirmed it will use data gathered during the beta to fine-tune these systems ahead of the game’s release.

Beta Timeline and Platforms
The beta kicked off on October 2, giving pre-order players three days of early access before opening to everyone from October 5 to 8. The test ran across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The full version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled to launch on November 14 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
