OpenAI has officially launched the ChatGPT app for Android after a pre-order period on Google Play. The app is now accessible in select countries, including the U.S., India, Bangladesh, and Brazil.

Announcing their launch on Android, Open AI tweeted, "ChatGPT for Android is now available for download in the US, India, Bangladesh, and Brazil!"
For those residing in other countries, they can still pre-order the app as OpenAI plans to expand its availability to more regions within the next week.
Open AI added, "We plan to expand the rollout to additional countries over the next week."

While the official ChatGPT app has been available on iOS for some time, the Android release marks a significant milestone, considering the larger user base on Android devices worldwide.

The mobile app offers a user-friendly interface optimized for mobile devices, making it easy to interact with ChatGPT as if you were messaging a friend. Simply type your text at the bottom of the screen, and ChatGPT will respond with advice and tips to meet your needs.

For existing OpenAI account holders, the mobile app syncs with their accounts, enabling access to past conversations across all devices if they have "chat history & training" enabled. Note that these settings cannot be separated; enabling one means enabling the other.

ChatGPT, which was launched by the Sam Altman-led company in November last year, has been available on Apple's iOS platform since May. OpenAI currently provides both free and subscription-based accounts.

With a subscription, users can access the enhanced large language model, GPT-4, along with additional features. ChatGPT Plus, the subscription tier, will also be available for Android users through in-app purchases. Existing subscribers can seamlessly access ChatGPT Plus features on Android with their current subscriptions.
