JE Technology Desk: ChatGPT for Android app will launch on Google Play Store this week. The pre-registration for the official chatbot app is already live on Google's app market. With the move, users can access the model without visiting the website for instant answers and switch to the app for ease of access. For the unversed, the company also released an iOS app recently and promised that an Android app will debut soon.
The ChatGPT app will be free and sync activity across devices. Plus, it will incorporate the latest improvements in the language model from the company. According to the Play Store listing, it can deliver instant answers, tailored advice, professional input, creative inspiration and more.
The Play Store listing of the app is successfully loading in India. This could imply that it can debut in the country on the same day of release, which was not the case on iOS. According to the 'About' section of the app, it will require access to the microphone, internet connection, and more to function. However, these can be disabled from the settings.

ChatGPT App for Android: Data collection and sharing
According to the Data Safety section on Play Store, the app may collect approximate location, personal details (name, email, contact number) and other in-app messages. Data on app performance, diagnostics, app interactions, and other user-generated content may be collected.
They are gathered for several reasons such as app functionality, analytics, fraud prevention, security, compliance, account management and developer communications. No data is shared with third parties or other companies, the company stated. However, a reader must note that these practices may vary based on the region, age and app usage. Further, this data is transferred via a secure protocol, and a user can also request the deletion of the data.
