OpenAI, which has already sparked widespread interest among internet users after unveiling the ChatGPT, is now reportedly planning to go on to the next level with a new product. It appears that the San Francisco-based firm is about to take on Google with a new search engine. This follows a recent post by Y Combinator, which stated that the technology company had registered a new domain "search.chatgpt.com" along with its security certificate. The sources indicate that the search engine will be launched soon, however, the URL is currently not available.
According to the reports, the ChatGPT Search Engine could make its debut as soon as next week. However, there is no official word about the status of the domain. In the latest update, an AI influencer claimed that the ChatGPT search engine could make its debut on May 9, while other reports suggest an imminent launch.

Further, the reports hint that the ChatGPT Search Engine could be a mixture of web search engines like Google with the garnish of AI capabilities. For instance, if the user inputs some queries, the ChatGPT search engine will provide results in terms of AI-generated content with relevant web pages below.
This means users could receive both a concise AI summary of relevant information from the web and direct sources for those seeking more detailed information. The report further states that the user interface for the ChatGPT Search Engine will be different depending on the devices used. The reports also add that the new search engine can take inspiration from the Microsoft Copilot powered by GPT-4 and Bing.

Meanwhile, Google is already integrating AI features in the search engine and holds the top spot in the market in terms of usage. However, new search engines can bring some new features and convenience.
