Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, once again made headlines not for an innovative electric vehicle or rocket launch, but due to his personal insights during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Topics discussed during this podcast interview included his views on space exploration (such as interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS), conspiracy theories, alien life theories and encounters.
Discussion Around Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS
Most of the podcast episode focused on Comet 3I/ATLAS, the third confirmed interstellar object. Joe Rogan and Musk talked about the comet’s strange behaviour, including its rapid movement, brightening and bizarre chemistry.
Avi Loeb and other researchers have hypothesised that the irregularities may indicate an artificial origin. However, the scientific community maintains a naturalistic perspective. Astronomers assert that the comet’s high speed and unusual trajectory, along with visual-jet phenomena like the sunward-jet effect, explain 3I/ATLAS’s interstellar origin and bizarre visual features.
NASA has assured Earth that 3I/ATLAS does not pose any threat, since it will never come close. With 3I/ATLAS already having passed its perihelion and now heading out of our solar system, only a limited window remains for scientists to obtain data before this comet vanishes from sight forever.
Musk’s Promise of Transparency on Alien Evidence
During the discussions, Rogan brought up the popular theory that says there are people who uncover extraterrestrial evidence and, thus, are in danger. Musk replied that, should he come across such evidence, he will be utterly transparent. “If I were aware of any evidence of aliens, Joe, you have my word I would come on your show and reveal it,” he stated.
This public promise contains no surprises, considering Musk's reputation for directness and openness through social media, especially X (formerly Twitter). His comment was a source of much interest and was rapidly and extensively shared and commented on, even if no new evidence was available.
Elon Musk’s “I’m Never Committing Suicide” Remark
Responding to online speculation and conspiracy theories regarding his state of well-being, Musk felt the cue to state, "I'm Never Committing Suicide," during the interview.

This response was probably a reaction to speculation concerning whether or not one of the “gatekeepers” to controversial, highly secretive alien technologies will be “silenced”. Musk’s comment was the perfect personal assurance in addition to serving as a response to prevalent misinformation being circulated.

Though the comet represents a scientific challenge, its viral moment demonstrated Musk's immense attraction for the public – his magnetism drawing people together across space science, humanity and personal openness. Musk regularly sparks public discussion around extraterrestrial life, colonisation of Mars and artificial intelligence expansion, his actions challenging what we know as humankind.
