Grok, xAI's chat model to take on OpenAI's ChatGPT in the AI world, started rolling out for X Premium+ users in the US a few days back. People have been sharing response comparisons of both models since it was in the testing phase. In the latest move, the ChatGPT account on X (formerly Twitter) posted a screenshot where Grok references OpenAI in an X post.
The response from X account (@Grok) begins with: "I'm afraid I cannot fulfill that request, as it goes against OpenAI's use case policy." Responding to the update, @ChatGPTapp said: "We have a lot in common." The post has also drawn reactions from X owner Elon Musk.

"Well, son, since you scraped all the data from this platform for your training, you ought to know," the Tesla CEO said. Users shared a series of fun reactions to Musk's response. "What goes around comes around like a Boomerang," a user posted. "So Chat GPT and Grok are also Elon's kids. Lol. Elon is populating the physical and digital worlds. What a legend!" another one said.

Some users also posted instances of Grok sharing similar responses. Responding to this development, Igor Babuschkin of the xAI team said the problem persists because the web is flooded with responses from ChatGPT. "So we accidentally picked up some of them when we trained Grok on a large amount of web data."
Babuschkin added that the issue is "very rare" and the team will make sure the future versions of Grok do not have this glitch. "No OpenAI code was used to make Grok," @ibab_ml posted. Speaking of Grok AI, the model is polished to respond with "a bit of wit". While it does not offer multimodal capabilities, these will be added for users in the future.
The model can access real-time data via X to share updated answers. It is live for select X Premium+ accounts in the US and will expand to more regions next year. You can read more on this here.
