Elon Musk has announced that his AI startup, xAI, will unveil its latest product, the Grok 3 chatbot, this coming Monday, touting it as "the smartest AI on Earth" in what is becoming an increasingly crowded market. The highly anticipated launch will take place during a live demonstration at 8:00 PM Pacific Time (0400 GMT) on Monday, February 19, Musk shared on his social media platform, X.

Grok 3 has been developed using synthetic data and is designed to reflect on its mistakes, reviewing data to ensure logical consistency in its responses.

Musk, who has been personally involved in the product’s development, mentioned on Saturday, "Will be honing product with the team all weekend, so offline until then." He had previously noted that Grok 3 was in its final stages and would be ready for release within weeks.

xAI, which competes in the fast-evolving AI landscape, is up against well-established players like OpenAI's ChatGPT. The competition has only intensified with the recent rise of DeepSeek, a Chinese startup that launched a low-cost, high-quality chatbot, quickly surpassing ChatGPT in downloads on the Apple App Store.

Musk, despite his long-standing concerns about the potential risks AI poses to humanity, is doubling down on his push into the sector. xAI’s latest funding round in December raised a hefty $6 billion, with contributions from major venture capitalists, chipmakers like Nvidia and AMD, and investment funds from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The startup’s valuation has soared, though it still lags behind OpenAI in terms of size.

Musk, who also leads SpaceX and Tesla, launched xAI in July 2023, shortly after signing an open letter advocating for a pause on the development of advanced AI models.

Meanwhile, OpenAI, a key competitor, rejected Musk's offer to buy the company for $97.4 billion, as confirmed by the company’s board chairman on Friday.
