JE Technology Desk: Amazon's Fire TV will join the AI bandwagon later this year. The e-commerce platform boasts a wide range of Fire TV gadgets ranging across price categories. It also has a separate app store, Televisions powered by this OS, and more. And to supercharge these offerings, the company will soon bring generative AI technology to Fire TV, according to Gadgets360.
Amazon offered a demo of AI at work on Fire TV models at a press briefing recently. The e-commerce giant showcased how AI can create wallpapers within seconds on the Fire TV Omni series. A user can use voice commands on the remote to create these artworks. It can be helpful for users who plan to use their TV as wall art when in an idle state. This will arrive on select Omni series devices in the coming months.
Daniel Rausch, VP Of Smart Home and Alexa Mobile, shared with the media outlet that FireOS-based TVs are selling well in India. For the unversed, Xiaomi, in partnership with Amazon, unveiled a television that runs on Fire TV OS that clocked much higher sales than expected by the e-commerce platform.
Rausch added that users see the intuitive UI and voice controls of the Fire TV among its strong points. When questioned on a possible debut of Fire TV Omni QLED TV lineup or other services like Luna in India, Rausch did not give a clear answer.
On the question of other use cases of AI integrations on Fire TV, the Vice President adds that Alexa already sports deep AI tech. As for Omni TVs, he adds the artwork example s just a "sneak peek" into the AI technology that is coming soon.
