The Flipkart Big Billion Day 2025, one of the biggest online shopping festivals in India is live now and it has some mega discounts on products across categories. Shoppers excited to pick up top-end smartphones such as the iPhone 16 at a fraction of the cost have been left feeling disappointed after the party turned sour. An influx of work-cancellation waves have left buyers disappointed, with criticism and trending hashtags targeting the platform.
iPhone 16 Series at Unbelievable Prices
The sale began with huge discounts on Apple’s iPhone 16 range. Now, they could reserve the iPhone 16 (128GB) at a price of Rs 51,999 and the iPhone 16 Pro(128GB) at a price of Rs 75,999 that turned out to be some of the most popular offers in the event. These price drops undermine Apple’s recently released iPhone 17 series and are of course leading to a purchasing frenzy. Flipkart Plus and Black members had early access on September 22, while all customers could access the sale a day later.

Mass Order Cancellations Spark Outrage on Social Media
For thousands of buyers, what started out as an eagerly awaited shopping spree turned quickly to wormwood. Several hours after ordering and making payment for their orders, many customers are saying they have been receiving cancellation messages from Flipkart. The platform cited “payment failures,” despite screenshots shared by buyers showing their transactions actually went through.
The complaints made their way onto social media posts, with aggrieved listings under hastags which accused the retailer of being engaged in a “Big Billion Scam” happening.

@flipkartsupport Hey @Flipkart

I bought an iPhone 16 during Big Billion Days for ₹53,000. Flipkart confirmed the order, but the seller later canceled citing "out of stock."
Now the same phone is available again for ₹56,000. This is unethical. Please resolve or compensate
As anticipated, Flipkart is canceling several iPhone orders placed at discounted sale prices... ! 😐

Not Limited to Apple iPhones
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro took most of the heat, but according to reports, it was not limited to just the two premium smartphones. Products like the Google Pixel 9 and Nothing Phone 3 were also abruptly cancelled. Some buyers claimed prices for these models immediately went up after the cancellations, adding fuel to suspicion and anger.

Some Buyers Are Happily Satisfied As Well
Although several users are outraged about the order cancellations. Some are really impressed with Flipkart's quick delivery as well.
The only thing faster than Flipkart's delivery right now is my heartbeat when I saw the iPhone 16 price drop. What a combo!

This isn't just delivery; it's teleportation. iPhone 16 via Flipkart's Big Billion Days. Still processing the speed.
— Bhuvan sharma (@Bhuvansharma22) September 23, 2025
My iPhone 16 arrived faster than my pizza ever has. 18 minutes flat. Flipkart's Big Billion Days are a different beast.

Flipkart Responds to the Issue
Following the backlash, Flipkart has now issued a statement explaining its stance on the cancellations. The company explained why the emergency orders were suddenly reversed, and is working on a way to compensate affected customers. However, this has not assuaged buyer irritation, as many have pointed out that they had heard of similar complaints aired during the 2014 Big Billion Day sale too.
Final Thoughts
The Flipkart Big Billion Day sale is one of the most anticipated shopping events in India, however successive wave of cancellations may dent consumer faith. With high-end smartphones like iPhone 16 series at the core of this year's kerfuffle, the platform now has an even bigger responsibility looming over its head to come clean, honor deals and provide a better seamless shopping experience next time around.
