Google has announced the Google Gemini app for users in India. It is available on the Google Play Store for Android users. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared the update. Pichai said the app is available in nine Indian languages and English. Nine Indian languages support will be added to Gemini Advanced with new features, and Google Messages will gain Gemini support in English.

In an India Blog post, the company highlighted new AI features, the arrival of the Gemini app on Android, and new data analysis and file upload capabilities in Gemini Advanced with Indian languages and more. Here are more details about the announcements.

Gemini App: The multimodal conversational AI chat assistant app will support English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Users can gain assistance by talking, typing or uploading an image to learn more or get queries answered. Users can download the Google Gemini free app from the Play Store or opt-in from Google Assistant. "You can then use Gemini by corner swiping, hitting the power button on select phones, or saying 'Hey Google'," the tech giant said. For iOS, Gemini will roll out in the Google app in the upcoming weeks. Users can tap the Gemini toggle to start chatting.

Updates To Gemini Advanced: All set to gain Gemini 1.5 Pro support, Gemini Advanced will gain support for nine Indian languages stated above. It boasts a 1 million token context window and now supports multiple file uploads. Users can "upload multiple large documents, up to 1,500 pages total, or summarise 100 emails." It can offer insights, summaries, feedback and more from these documents. Gemini Advanced can also analyse data from spreadsheets. It can "clean, explore, analyse, and visualise data" into charts and graphical representations. These files remain private and are not used for training the model.

Gemini in Google Messages: Google is also bringing Gemini support in Google Messages. The AI model will roll out for Google Messages in English for select devices and users that meet the requirements (Android, minimum 6GB RAM or more).
