Google just made creating short videos from your favourite images easier! Their Gemini platform now has an AI-powered feature called Quick and Creative that can transform photos into animated video clips with sound. Perfect for animating sketches or turning scenic photos into cinematic moments, this tool provides quick and creative solutions.

Google is making Gemini Pro and Ultra users aware of a new photo-to-video feature available via Gemini that will soon roll out to them, part of its effort to make AI tools more creative and accessible for everyday use.

How to Create a Video from a Photo Using Gemini

You can now use Gemini’s new photo-to-video feature. Here's how it works:

1. Visit gemini.google.com and sign in with your Google account.

2. Tap the prompt bar and select Videos from the tool menu.

3. Upload a photo of your choice—this can be a real image, artwork, or drawing.

4. Describe the scene you want to create. You can include:

  • Animation instructions
  • Sound effects or music
  • Visual changes (e.g., waves crashing, birds flying, lights flickering)

5. Generate the video. Gemini will produce an 8-second animated clip based on your image and prompt.

6. Download or share your video using the on-screen options.

With this user-friendly tool, you can create animations, turn static photos into dynamic landscapes, or inject motion into personal artwork - and do it all without being an expert user yourself! Even beginners will find this easy to use.

Built-in Safeguards: Visible and Hidden Watermarks

For transparency and misuse prevention, every AI-generated video includes two types of watermarks. These watermarks include both black-and-white watermarks as well as two forms of transparent watermarks:

Visible watermark: Clearly marks the content as AI-generated.

SynthID Digital Watermark: An inconspicuous code embedded within videos in order to trace its provenance.

Google reports conducting extensive red teaming tests to proactively detect and address potential safety or misuse issues in AI-generated media.

“We take significant steps behind the scenes to make sure video generation is an appropriate experience,” Google noted in its announcement.

Final Thoughts

Google’s Gemini photo-to-video feature gives an easy way to animate still images with AI for creators, educators, and even the casual users. It also has built-in safety tools such as watermarks and moderation testing, so Google is aiming an appropriate balance between innovation and responsibility. If you're a Pro or Ultra subscriber now is an excellent time to experiment with this type of video production from your browser!
