Google has some good news for all Android users, as the tech giant has announced that all Android users will be able to utilise Gemini Live through camera and screen recording free of cost. The company confirmed this in a post on X (Twitter), stating, “We’ve been hearing great feedback on Gemini Live with camera and screen share, so we decided to bring it to more people. Starting today and over the coming weeks, we're rolling it out to all Android users with the Gemini app.”
This feature comes with a lot packed with it; it allows users to ask queries and get voice-guided help, but that is not it. You can even analyze and record your conversations in real-time, bounce ideas around with the AI assistant, identify objects near them, and search for content as well. A year ago, during the demonstration of "Project Astra," all these features were showcased.
Previously the feature was only available to advanced users, and earlier this month Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 devices received it.
How To Enable Screen Share With Gemini Live
Within the Gemini App:
-Launch the Gemini app and navigate to the Live interface.
-Tap the “Turn on screen sharing” button located at the bottom of the screen.
-When the pop-up appears, select “Share screen.”
Outside the Gemini App:
-Activate Gemini either by long-pressing the power button (on supported devices) or by using a voice command.
-Tap the “Share screen with Live” floating button that appears on the Gemini overlay.
-In the pop-up menu, choose “Share screen.”
To halt sharing, go back to the Gemini mobile app and tap on "Turn off screen sharing." Another alternative is to swipe down from the top edge of the screen and tap on "Stop Sharing" on the Screen Sharing card. Additionally, screen sharing is automatically halted if the screen gets locked or Live is paused.
Camera Sharing On Gemini Live
When screen sharing is turned on, you can just turn on the camera and show Gemini what you are looking at. Other alternatives include
- Tap the camera icon in Gemini Live to begin sharing a live video feed.
- Tap the camera icon again to stop the live feed.
- You can switch between the front and rear cameras as needed during the session.
However, Google has cautioned that the screen-sharing functionality shall stop if the phone gets locked or when the Gemini Live is paused.
