Google I/O 2024: It is that time of the year when Google will unleash features from its AI bank. The company has scheduled Google I/O Developer Conference 2024 for May 14, about 48 hours from now. The company has scheduled a "Google Keynote (Google I/O '24)" livestream for 10:30 PM IST on YouTube, where the company is said to highlight software and AI announcements.

Interested viewers can catch all the action live from the Tuesday event on the video streaming platform (video embed below) or the 'io.google/2024' web page. Similar to previous years, Google will lay special emphasis on AI. The company could focus on updates in Search and improvements to its generative AI offerings, including its flagship model - Gemini.

Google could also emphasise the use cases of the technology on Pixel smartphones. This could imply new and enhanced features in Google apps like Chrome, Maps, Search, Gmail, Play Store, Workspace suite and more. For the unaware, the company has been working on features like spoken English practice, virtual try-ons for shopping, locating EV charging points via Maps and a feature to help users better deal with wait times on calls with a business using AI.

Some of the above-stated updates could see the light of day at Google I/O 2024. Google may also introduce the enhanced, more personal and multimodal iteration of Google Assistant - 'Pixie' at the show, The Verge reported. Plus, the tech giant could offer an early look at features of Android 15. Moreover, upcoming updates for Wear OS, Android TV and Android Auto may also steal some limelight.

Based on preliminary leaks, the company could lay less emphasis on the hardware, unlike last year when the company unveiled the Pixel Fold, Pixel 7a, and Pixel Tablet. As the Pixel 8a is up for grabs via pre-bookings on Flipkart, the company could talk about its AI features and hardware upgrades. But, the tech giant could take the opportunity to tease the Pixel 9 or other flagship hardware like the upcoming foldable or Pixel Tablet 2.
