Search giant Google is reportedly gearing up to launch the Google Pixel 8a at its upcoming Google I/O 2024 event. Ahead of the possible launch, Android Headlines leaked the complete specifications of the handset. The report noted that the phone will get wide-ranging similarities to its successor - Pixel 7a. Pixel 8a is expected to offer up to 256GB storage and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Speaking of the display, the handset may have a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 2,000nits peak brightness. Pixel 8a is expected to get a Tensor G3 processor. It could run on the latest Android 14-based OS and get seven years of updates promise, which includes OS, security patches and feature drops.
The smartphone will likely have a 4,500mAh battery which could support up to 30W charging. Besides wired, the phone may get Qi wireless charging. As for the optics, the device is said to offer AI features like Magic Editor, Best Take, Ultra HDR, Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Night Sight, Portrait Mode, Portrait Light and more. Coming to videos, the handset may offer Audio Magic Eraser.
The phone may have an IP67 rating. Speaking of connectivity, the device could get Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and a USB Type-C port. Coming to the hardware, the phone will likely have a 64MP primary + 13MP ultrawide rear and a 13MP selfie camera. As for the colours, the handset may debut in a Porcelain, Obsidian, Bay and a new 'Aloe' colour.
As for the pricing, the 128GB model is said to cost $499 and the 256GB trim may be available for $559. In India, the device may sit in the sub-Rs 45,000 price bracket. On a related note, Google could also announce a range of AI-based software products and improvements at this year's Google I/O.
