Google is gradually rolling out screen and live video sharing features in Gemini Live, and the first to get them will be the Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series. These capabilities—designed by Google DeepMind under Project Astra—were showcased during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 and mark a significant step forward in real-time AI processing.
Gemini Live Features Headed to Pixel 9, Galaxy S25 Series
According to a press release from Google, the Pixel 9 lineup, including the upcoming Pixel 9a, will start receiving the new features as part of the April 2025 Pixel Drop. These tools enable real-time screen and video sharing using Gemini Live’s AI capabilities.
Pixel users get a bit of a bonus—Google confirmed that these features will be available for free on the Pixel 9 devices. They're not tied to the one-year Gemini Advanced subscription, which means users will still have access to them even after their subscription ends. However, Samsung Galaxy S25 users will need to subscribe to Gemini Advanced to use the same features.

As of now, users haven’t widely reported seeing these features live, according to Gadgets 360, but the rollout is expected to be completed shortly after the April Pixel Drop begins. For Galaxy S25 devices, a similar update should arrive soon, likely through a staged release.
How to Use Gemini Live’s New Tools
To use the screen-sharing feature, users can open the Gemini assistant overlay and tap the “Share screen with Live” floating action button (FAB). A system prompt will appear asking for confirmation to begin sharing the screen with the Google app.
Once activated, a call-style notification appears in the status bar, indicating that live processing is underway. Users can also initiate the process directly from the Gemini Live app by selecting the screen share button.
For live video sharing, the process is just as simple. Open Gemini Live and tap the new video icon at the bottom of the screen to start streaming from the rear camera. Keep in mind, that this feature only works while the screen is on. Google recommends holding the camera steady for the best performance.
These updates could make Gemini Live a more immersive and intelligent assistant. As Google continues refining its AI with Gemini 2.5 Pro (now in public preview), expect even more powerful tools coming to your device soon.
