Google Pixel January Update 2024: Search giant Google introduced a new shade of the Pixel 8 series models in select markets across the globe. While the company is yet to share any details of the launch of the new shade in India, Google has now introduced the January update for users. According to The Verge, the latest update offers the new Circle to Search feature that will arrive first on the Samsung S24 series.

The report noted that Circle to Search will be live on eligible Pixel smartphones on January 31. Using the feature, users can long-press the home button or the navigation bar to circle items on the screen. After a user encircles, taps or scribbles on the screen to learn more, Google will return results about the content in question.

Plus, the update will also allow users to take body temperature readings via the Pixel 8 Pro (likely after FDA clearance). Google touts the sensor can offer "medical-grade" results. However, in the screengrab posted in the report, the description read: "Temperature readings may vary and are most accurate when done properly. Temperature ranges are a general guide only. Consult a healthcare provider for advice."

The company also noted that older devices, such as the Pixel 6 and later can utilise Magic Compose to "rewrite a drafted message in different styles" using AI. While the processing of this feature takes place on-device on the Pixel 8 Pro model, other models will rely on the internet to use the feature.

Moreover, the company has rebranded Nearby Share to Quick Share. The utility to allow fast transfer of files and media on supported Android, Windows, and ChromeOS-powered devices remains the same. Google also said automatic audio switching (on Pixel Watch) and Photomoji in Messages shall roll out for users soon.
