GTA 6 Trailer 2 is out, and this is all what the gaming community is talking about, from fans to critics to even non-gamers. Rockstar's latest title has brought them all together. Not all has been smooth though, as the game maker recently unveiled the release date for GTA 6, and it's not happening anytime soon. The game will drop in May of 2026, and this is barring the fact that Rockstar doesn't face any major hiccups this time. Nonetheless, to quench the thirst of its fans, Rockstar unexpectedly dropped the second trailer when we were least expecting it, and as usual, it broke all records and became the highest-grossing video in just a matter of a few minutes. Maybe Rockstar was just trying to calm the seas after it had announced the delayed release, as fans would not have been quite stoked about it.
Right after the second trailer was made public, Rockstar also revealed some official screenshots of the game that give us a good look into its characters, maps, and gameplay details. Now we all can obviously expect that there will be an increased graphical fidelity this time with enhanced mechanics when it comes to shadows and sunlight and textures of the characters and the whole open world overall, but how massive is the difference? Pretty massive if you ask me!
I remember looking at GTA 5's pre-release screenshots, and it looked like something straight out of a movie, but with GTA 6, Rockstar has taken the game to the next level. Here I am going to compare the screenshots from GTA 5 with a few favourite picks of mine to show you how the new GTA 6 actually looks in comparison. Courtesy of GTA fans around the world and especially Fandom from where I was able to source these images of GTA 5, we have a collection here to show you exactly how they both stack up against each other, so check them out!

The Helicopter shot
Apart from the few extra words written on the helicopter, the screenshot from GTA 6 clearly showcases higher graphical fidelity; the parts of the helicopter, such as the rotor and the rotor blade, are much more detailed. The effect of sunlight on the helicopter's metal and the natural rusting and screws in its tail are also quite evident, giving it all the more natural look.
Landscapes
This is one of my favourites; it shows the overall look and feel of the landscape that you will be experiencing in the game, and even though when GTA 5 came out, its screenshot looked wild, when you compare it to the one we have now from GTA 6, it looks like a model render rather than the complete thing. The vegetation is very rich; the lighting and the shadows are killing it. Something I thought was good in Red Dead Redemption, but this is next level.
Ariel Shot
This shot highlights the colour variations in both the games, and GTA 6 has definitely taken it to the next level; water looks much more real, and vegetation on the islands is plush and green. The plane model is also very detailed, with every inch showcasing the hard work behind it.
Cityscapes
Underwater Shots
This is a great shot, and it showcases in depth how much more has been introduced in GTA 6 when it comes to underwater exploration. You can easily spot how much better the lighting and shadows feel in this one underwater. Increased flora and fauna are being showcased underwater, so for those who have been wondering when they will finally get something good with underwater exploration, their wait might be over.
Here are some other screenshots that exhibit at what GTA is working on right now, so do check them out!
