iPhone 17: Apple’s next big reveal is expected in September, and if the latest leaks are to be believed, the iPhone 17 lineup could bring some major upgrades—especially in the camera department.
The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max are all tipped to feature improved camera systems. While Apple has steadily upgraded its imaging hardware over the years, this time the changes look more substantial. One of the headline features? Potential 8K video recording, a first for iPhones but already present on several Android flagships this year.
The Pro models, in particular, could get a serious bump in telephoto capabilities. Leaks suggest a 48MP telephoto lens might replace the long-standing 12MP sensor on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max—bringing it in line with Apple’s existing 48MP wide and ultra-wide cameras.
But Apple isn’t stopping at the rear. The front camera may also get a long-awaited update, with reports hinting at a new 24MP selfie shooter across the entire iPhone 17 lineup. That’s a significant step up from the current 12MP TrueDepth sensor.
Video might also see some Pro-exclusive features. Apple is reportedly testing native support for adjustable aperture and dual video recording—allowing users to record with both the front and rear cameras at the same time.
Outside the camera system, the base iPhone 17 model could finally catch up in the display department. For the first time, Apple may introduce a 120Hz refresh rate to its non-Pro phones, offering a smoother user experience compared to the 60Hz screens found in the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
If these leaks hold true, the iPhone 17 series could be one of the most camera-focused and feature-rich updates Apple has delivered in years.
