Samsung Galaxy S25 FE: Samsung’s Fan Edition phones have long been a go-to for users wanting premium features without the premium price. The upcoming Galaxy S25 FE is expected to stick to that formula. But while early reports painted a familiar picture with the same Exynos 2400e chip as its predecessor, new leaks hint that Samsung might have something more powerful in mind.

Initially, speculation pointed toward a nearly unchanged setup from the Galaxy S24 FE, which also ran on the Exynos 2400e. That chip offered solid performance and efficiency, but it didn’t exactly signal a performance leap—disappointing for anyone hoping the S25 FE would pack more punch.

However, a fresh report from Notebookcheck shakes things up. It suggests Samsung may be seriously considering MediaTek’s flagship-level Dimensity 9400 chip for the Galaxy S25 FE. That’s not as surprising as it sounds—Samsung recently featured MediaTek chips in its upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 lineup, showing a willingness to diversify its silicon strategy.

Why MediaTek? On paper, the Dimensity 9400 outperforms the Exynos 2400e in both power and efficiency. It's also more cost-effective than Qualcomm’s chips, which could help Samsung keep the FE pricing competitive. But switching to a MediaTek chip isn't a straightforward decision. The Dimensity 9400 is made by TSMC, not Samsung Foundry, meaning Samsung would lose the opportunity to funnel revenue into its own chip-making division if it ditches Exynos.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time MediaTek’s name has been linked to Samsung’s flagship phones. Last year, rumours suggested the Dimensity 9400 was even in talks to power the Galaxy S25 and S25+—a Plan B after Samsung’s Exynos 2500 reportedly ran into production issues. While those models ultimately went with Qualcomm, it’s clear Samsung hasn’t ruled out MediaTek for future devices.

For now, the Exynos 2400e still appears to be the leading candidate for the Galaxy S25 FE. But with the Dimensity 9400 still on the table, Samsung fans might have more to look forward to than expected.
