HMD Global, the official maker of Nokia phones, is gearing up to launch its first HMD-branded smartphone in India. Ahead of the launch, the company announced its '#HMDNameOurSmartphone' contest to collect entries for a possible name. The company has now announced that its first HMD-branded smartphone in India will be called 'HMD Arrow'.
The company has used different names for a smartphone in different markets. For instance, HMD's first device is known as Pulse in Europe and Vibe in the US, according to NokiaMob. Coming to India, users also recommended names like Sharpsy, Knife, Naruto, Polaris, Indhumanoid, Tejaswita, Brahmos, Astrabeam, Unbroken, Dazzle, Meghnaad, Beast, Trailblazer, Tremor and more, as per HMD India's X (formerly called Twitter) post.

The final name was announced on the X handle of Rajasthan Royals, HMD's official smartphone partner, in a 45-second clip. The company touts the handset to be "India's sharpest smartphone". In its marketing materials on the microblogging app, HMD heavily emphasises the camera, display and design of the upcoming handset. According to Gizmochina, the handset will likely be a budget-centric smartphone and may offer specifications similar to the HMD Pulse.
HMD Arrow Specifications (Expectations)
If the Arrow turns out to be a rebranded version of the HMD Pulse, it may offer a 6.56-inch HD+ IPS 90Hz screen with 480nits brightness. Under the hood, the device may get a Unisoc T606 4G chipset and run on Android 14-based OS. HMD could promise two OS and three years of security updates with the phone. It may offer a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support.
As for the optics, HMD Arrow could sport a 13MP primary rear optics with flash and an 8MP selfie shooter. Coming to connectivity, the handset may sport Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, a headphone jack, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port for charging. It may have a side-mounted fingerprint reader and an IP52 rating. The smartphone may debut in four colour options and up to 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.
