Usually when we are out in the market looking for a smartphone, there are only a few popular names that we go for, but lately that scenario has been taking a turn, and new players are making their weight felt in the market. With that said, Honour is trying to make a comeback and has introduced a new futuristic smartphone concept, the Robot Phone, and it comes with an AI-powered gimbal-mounted camera, which will give you leverage for shooting videos and pics from any direction possible.

The video was showcased via CGI teaser videos and looks like a normal smartphone, but what stands out is its bulky dual-part rear camera module. This module can be extended and is capable of autonomous movement, which is possible because of the robotic arm attached to it.
This foldout camera is capable of flipping so that users can take a selfie, it can rotate to capture numerous angles, and it can operate independently as well to take that perfect frame shot.
Many users online have drawn parallels between the Robot Phone and older innovations like the Asus Zenfone 6 from 2019, known for its unique flip camera, while others say it looks a lot like compact gimbal devices such as DJI’s Osmo Pocket. What sets it apart, though, is its AI-powered design—it can sense its surroundings, automatically fine-tune shots for the best results, and even respond interactively, positioning itself as more of a personal companion than just another gadget.
According to the company, the Robot Phone is part of its “Alpha plan”, an ambitious vision for devices that evolve and adapt alongside their users. It’s being described as an emotional companion meant to bring “love, joy, and wisdom” through intelligent, lifelike interactions. While the company hasn’t shared much about its full capabilities, the concept seems to stretch far beyond photography — potentially touching areas like monitoring, automation, and other AI-driven tasks.

The idea was first teased during the launch of the Magic 8 flagship series, and the company is expected to showcase the device at next year’s Mobile World Congress. For now, though, none of it has been officially confirmed.
