Apple has announced the new iPad Pro, featuring the brand-new M5 chip for its biggest performance jump in years in its iPad range. It’s the same slim and featherlight design, but what makes this powerhouse run has been upgraded in every way — a faster CPU and GPU, more on-device AI and a brighter, crisper Ultra Retina XDR display. Apple says the M5 processor offers up to 5.6x faster AI performance than that of the M1 iPad Pro, resulting in more fluid execution for tasks such as image generation, video masking and AI-assisted editing. Paired with iPadOS 26, this version seems to present the most fully realised version of an iPad we’ve ever seen.
iPad Pro (M5): Price and Availability
The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes – 11-inch and 13-inch – as well as two colours – Space Black and Silver - starting with pricing starting at ₹99,900 for the 11-inch version and ₹1,29,900 for the 13-inch model; both can come equipped with up to 2TB of storage and are now available for preorder, with store sales beginning on October 22. Cellular variants will feature Apple's C1X modem that promises 50% faster data speeds while improving efficiency.
iPad Pro (M5): Key Specifications and Features
Apple claims the M5 chip contains a 10-core GPU equipped with Neural Accelerators on each core for faster AI task completion such as real-time image generation in Draw Things or AI video editing with DaVinci Resolve, while its 10-core CPU (4 performance + 6 efficiency cores) facilitates improved multitasking and app launch times compared to M1. They claim 3D rendering has increased 6.7x while video transcoding has seen a 6x improvement relative to M1.
Memory and storage bandwidths have doubled, reaching 150GB/s memory bandwidth. Starting with models 256GB in size, 12GB of unified memory will be provided, providing improved performance in more demanding workloads.
The Ultra Retina XDR display utilises dual OLED panels for improved blacks, higher contrast levels, and peak brightness up to 1,600 nits. Furthermore, this model features ProMotion, True Tone and an optional nano-texture glass which reduces glare for professionals.
Connectivity also takes a significant leap forward with the N1 chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread for faster wireless speeds and increased compatibility with smart devices.
iPadOS 26 and Accessories
The new version of iPadOS 26, meanwhile, updates design and multitasking (including a reworked window system and enhanced Files and Preview apps). It makes use of Apple Intelligence for things like live translation, reminders (like when to leave for an appointment), and AI-powered document creation.

Apple is also upgrading its accessories; the Magic Keyboard now features a function row and Apple Pencil Pro now offers haptic feedback and enhanced precision, making the iPad Pro an even more capable tool for artists and professionals.
The iPad Pro (M5) refresh isn’t just worth highlighting -- this is a powerhouse that's been marketed at professionals looking for desktop-grade performance on the go. With the AI-boosted M5 chip, beautiful OLED display and smarter software, this is Apple’s best case yet that you shouldn’t buy a new laptop — just replace it with an iPad.
