With the goal of simplifying travel for private vehicle owners, NHAI has launched a new FASTag Annual Pass that promises to speed up travel on highways, reduce costs, and make travel stress-free. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, announced the Annual Pass interoperable FASTag in June. This new initiative is aimed at resolving the perennial problem of waiting and traffic congestion at toll plazas within a 60 km radius.

With a single, prepaid balance, owners of cars, jeeps, and vans are granted unrestricted access to convenience on national highways and expressways operated by NHAI and MoRTH. While the regular FASTag works across all tolls in the country, this pass is restricted to only central government highways. Toll fees on state highways and municipal tolls will continue to be charged at the usual rates.

How to Buy the FASTag Annual Pass

Purchasing the annual pass is simple and can be done online from August 15:

  • The pass can be purchased via the Rajmarg Yatra application or the NHAI/MoRTH official website.
  • Enter your vehicle number and FASTag ID.
  • Pay ₹3,000 via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.
  • Receive SMS confirmation once activated.

FASTag Annual Pass Rules & Limitations

  • Eligibility: Only for private, non-commercial vehicles.
  • Validity: One year or 200 trips, whichever comes first.
  • Non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • No auto-renewal — reapply after expiry.
  • Once the trip or time limit ends, charges revert to regular FASTag rates.
