Huawei has refreshed its Watch Fit lineup in China with the launch of the Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro, and this time the upgrade feels more noticeable than routine. Alongside the Pura 90 series and Pura X Max, the new wearables focus on improving the everyday experience, whether that’s a brighter display outdoors or more detailed health tracking.

At a glance, both watches stick to the same lightweight, rectangular design language the series is known for. But look closer, and the Pro model clearly starts to separate itself as the more serious, feature-packed option.

The standard Watch Fit 5 comes with a 1.82-inch AMOLED display that now pushes up to 2,500 nits brightness, making it easier to read in harsh sunlight. The Watch Fit 5 Pro goes a step further with a slightly larger 1.92-inch AMOLED panel that hits 3,000 nits and adds sapphire glass on top, which should help with long-term durability.

That difference in positioning carries over to the build as well. The regular model uses an aluminium alloy case, keeping things light and minimal. The Pro variant leans more premium with a titanium alloy bezel, giving it a sturdier, more refined feel without adding too much weight.

Health and fitness tracking remain at the core of both devices. You get the usual suite of sensors including heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, stress tracking, and temperature sensing. The Pro model, however, adds ECG support and a depth sensor, which unlocks features like diving support up to 40 metres. It’s a clear push toward users who want more than just basic fitness tracking.

On the connectivity side, both watches come equipped with Bluetooth calling, NFC, and support for multiple GNSS systems including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC. They run on HarmonyOS and work with both Android and iOS devices, so compatibility isn’t a concern.

Battery life is another area where Huawei continues to hold its ground. Both models are rated for up to 10 days on lighter usage, around a week with typical use, and roughly four days if you keep the always-on display active. Wireless charging is supported on both, keeping things convenient.

With all that being said, both the devices are still relatively light to wear. For example, the Watch Fit 5 has a weight of roughly 27 grams, whereas the Watch Fit 5 Pro will weigh in at around 30.4 grams.

Overall, the Watch Fit 5 appears to be a well-balanced improvement for regular wearers, whereas the Pro version will be better suited for people with higher expectations and demands regarding their smartwatch. It’s less about choosing between good and better, and more about deciding how far you want your smartwatch to go with you.
