Omdia estimates that India's smartphone market experienced a 3 per cent annualised shipment growth during Q3 2025, reaching 48.4 million units. This spike can be attributed to festive-season launches in July and August as well as retail incentives, channel stocking strategies, preemptive stockpiling ahead of periods with high demand, retail incentives and preemptive stockpiling strategies that were employed prior to periods with increased demand.
Top Manufacturers in Q3 2025
Vivo was the market leader, shipping 9.7 million units and taking 20 per cent of the market share. Their T-series, V60 and Y-series all performed strongly, backed by aggressive retail campaigns.
Samsung took 14% market share by selling 6.8 million units (14% in the mid-premium segment). Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S24 models drove demand in this subsegment.

Xiaomi shipped 13%, just beating out Oppo, who shipped 6.55 million units (13%). Oppo’s festive F31 series helped drive its shipments.
Apple returned to the top five with 4.9 million units (10% share), aided by growth in smaller cities. Older iPhone models (iPhone 16s and 15s) drove upgrade sales, while the iPhone 17 base model gained traction from the existing iPhone 12–15 user base.

Other Notable Performances
Motorola recorded a record 4 million shipments for 2018, an increase of 53% year-on-year due to strong consumer interest for their G-series and Edge 60 expansion products.
Nothing saw a 66% YoY surge, driven by the CMF Phone 2 Pro and Phone 3a.

Market Insights
Omdia notes that Vivo's Q3 growth was driven by incentives rather than organic consumer demand recovery, with their balanced portfolio and strong promoter network being key factors in maintaining momentum. Analysts caution, however, that the 2025 market may experience some modest decreases as growth remains vulnerable to economic conditions and channel corrections.
Overall, festive launches, incentives and strong mid-tier models were key drivers of Apple India's modest YoY growth; furthermore, smaller cities saw significant increases that indicated potential opportunities in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets.
