Instagram, which has been working on a number of new features to improve the platform's user experience, has apparently begun testing the ability to share Stories to various audience lists. The Meta-owned photo sharing platform intends to provide users with the chance to share photos with a smaller group and have more control.
Users will be able to share their stories in small groups thanks to this functionality. Users will be able to utilise this tool to selectively share personal or sensitive content with distinct groups, such as close friends, family, and coworkers, by creating custom lists for each group.
"We began testing the option to share your tales with numerous audience lists today. This allows you to share your experiences with smaller groups and offers you greater control over who sees them," Instagram head Adam Mosseri said on his broadcast channel.
"As someone who frequently utilises Close Friends, I'm quite intrigued about the ability to build additional lists for the people in my life," he added.
The multiple audience lists function is "only available in certain locations," according to the Instagram support page. Users will also be able to simultaneously share a Story with numerous lists. They may quickly choose the most recently used list while composing a tale thanks to a shortcut button at the bottom of the screen.
Instagram is also now developing a feature that would let users share feed posts only with the people in their "Close Friends" group. Lia Haberman, a digital media marketing instructor, wrote: "Coming to Instagram Close Friends feed post." along with a screenshot of the new feature on X (previously Twitter). Making a Close Friends feed would be one method to lure folks away from Stories and DMs.
