Instagram, a popular photo-sharing platform owned by social media giant Meta, is in the process of developing a feature that will allow users to create and share audio notes. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, revealed the plans during a broadcast, mentioning that testing hasn't begun publicly yet but the team is actively working on it.

The platform, which was first recognised for its visual content, has been growing its selection. Previously, Meta had offered 'Notes' on Instagram, allowing users to post compressed ideas and keep up with the goings-on of their friends. In June, the ability to upload 30-second song clips to Notes was implemented. Initially, the character limit for text and emoticons was set at 60.

The statement comes on top of Mosseri's recent disclosure about testing a group mention feature for stories. This new innovation will allow users to tag multiple people with a single mention, resulting in cleaner, less crowded tales that will improve the reading experience.

Instagram has announced a feature targeted at reducing unwanted direct message (DM) requests in terms of user privacy and protection. This feature limits people who aren't followed by the recipient to sending only one message instead of an infinite number of DM requests. Furthermore, DM invitations are now text-based, allowing only images, videos, or audio communications if the receiver accepts the chat request.

Meanwhile, Instagram backed Threads has got the repost feature on their profile and the following tabs. With this new feature, users will be able to report others' posts on their profiles, much like X (formerly Twitter).

Not only that, Mosseri has also announced that the company is close to introducing the desktop version of the application soon. He also announced that the company has not started working on the version for foldables, but it soon will.
