JE Technology Desk: Services on Meta apps Instagram and Facebook were back to normal after a disruption that lasted over two hours, the company said on Friday, according to Reuters. Around 20,000 people reported outages on Instagram, Facebook and the popular instant messaging app WhatsApp, as per Downdetector, an outage-tracking platform.
However, these reports shrunk to under 500 later during the day. Downdetector collects error reports submitted by users and various sources to share an update on the services that are witnessing a disruption worldwide.
In the statement, the company also highlighted that it is working to fix issues in Ads Manager, a tool that allows brands to create and buy Facebook advertisements was resolved too.
Taking to Twitter, Instagram's PR team shared: "Aaaand we're back! The issue has been resolved and things should now be working as normal," sharing an update on the situation, @InstagramComms tweeted.

Further, taking to the micro-blogging platform, Facebook also acknowledged the same problem.

WhatsApp also echoed on a similar note. The Meta-owned app shared that users were facing issues while sending media. Later sharing an update on service restoration, the company said: "And we're back. Send all the voice notes you want."

Outage reports of WhatsApp peaked on Downdetector around 12:55 AM on June 17 with over 1,700 reports. Over 1,600 cases of Instagram outages were reported at the same time. Reports of outages on Facebook also peaked at a similar time frame.
We reported the latest issue on Friday. Users faced problems during sign-in, accessing feed, sending messages, uploading photos and videos and viewing Stories in India. The massive outage ignited a meme fest on Twitter, and Twitterati was swift to troll the Meta platforms for frequent disruptions.
The photo-sharing app witnessed an outage earlier this month too. Account holders were unable to refresh the news feed, view Stories, videos and more on the app.
