Instagram, owned by Meta Platforms, has announced a limited test allowing users to make polls in the comments part of their posts in an effort to increase user engagement and interaction on the popular social media platform. On the broadcast channel, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced that polls can now be added to comments on both normal feed posts and reels.
Just like every other feature in the pipeline, this new feature is also under development and will roll out in the coming weeks, says Instagram Head Adam Mosseri. Similar to the popular polls that have been available in Stories as stickers for a number of years, the addition of polls to the comments section on Instagram adds a new dimension of engagement. Polls can be added by users in their comments, and other users can see how many people voted on a particular poll.
Certain specifics are still unknown as this functionality is still being tested, like how long polls are available for voting and whether users will be able to choose multiple durations for votes to continue coming in.
Meta has also added a privacy-focused tool that lets users manage Instagram's data-collecting methods. Users can prevent Instagram from gathering personal data from different apps and websites they visit by using this feature. With this expanded power, consumers can disconnect particular activities, see which companies are sharing their data with Meta, and remove the acquired data.
