Instagram's Edits app is now available to the public, which was launched on Tuesday, and this comes nearly three months after the app was introduced. It’s a mobile video editing solution offering a range of creative tools, including high-quality video capture, keyframing, automatic captions, and camera controls for resolution, frame rate, and dynamic range. According to Instagram, Edits users can take advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) features to enhance their videos with added creativity, using tools like AI image animation and various effects. The app is available on both iOS and Android.
Features of Edits App
The app is launched with the aim of streamlining content creation by simplifying the whole process of editing videos by offering quick edit tools. It will also help creators in expanding the scope of platforms where they can express themselves without limiting themselves to just Facebook and Instagram, said Meta Platforms, the parent company of Instagram and Edits.
Creators will be able to adjust their camera settings for frame rate, dynamic range and resolution. They will also have the option to capture 10-minute videos in higher resolution when compared to Instagram. According to the platform, it provides quick access to tools like touch-up, one-tap green screen, the music catalogue, timer, and countdown.
On Edits, the keyframing feature allows users to precisely animate the position, rotation, and scale of clips at specific moments. The AI image animation tool can transform still images into dynamic videos. Additionally, users can change backgrounds using the green screen or add video overlays. The app includes a wide variety of typefaces, sound and voice effects, filters, stickers, and other creative elements. It also enhances audio by removing background noise and offers automatically generated, customisable captions. An "Ideas" tab serves as a central space to store all your creative thoughts in one place.
Videos created on the Edits platform can be shared seamlessly on Meta's own apps like Facebook and Instagram, and for posting on other apps, you can export the video to post it, and the app lets you do it without a watermark. To keep track of engagement, the platform also comes with a live insights dashboard, which gives a breakdown of followers and non-followers who have interacted with the content and also gives metrics like skip rate.
The app was initially available on iOS; it is now available for download on the App Store as well as the Google Play Store.
