Intel introduced its Core Ultra 200S Plus series processor in select global markets on Wednesday. This new lineup will comprise two chips, the Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus and Core Ultra 7 270K Plus. This latest series will go on sale in the US later this month and will be available through Intel's dedicated website as well as authorised retail stores. Apart from this, devices carrying this chip from OEMs will also start hitting the shelves around the same time, the company claims. The company also claims that these new chips will deliver better gaming performance and multi-thread performance compared to the previous versions.

Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus Series Features and Specs

The lower variant Core Ultra 5 250K Plus desktop processor is embedded with 18 cores and 18 threads, which can deliver a peak clock speed of 5.35GHz and an amped-up device-to-device (D2D) frequency of up to 9000MHz. The higher Core Ultra 7 270K Plus variant, on the other hand, comes with a 24-core CPU with 24 threads, with claims of reaching a peak clock boost of 5.5 GHz, and as far as D2D frequency modulation is concerned, it's the same as the base version.

Intel says its latest processors deliver a noticeable jump in performance when compared with rival AMD chips. In benchmark testing, the Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus reportedly performed far ahead of the AMD 9700X. On Cinebench 2024’s multi-core test, Intel claims the chip achieved scores that were up to 92 per cent higher. A similar gap appeared on the Blender “The Junk Shop” benchmark, where the processor was said to outperform the AMD chip by as much as 83 per cent.

The Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus also showed strong results in the same tests. According to Intel’s internal benchmarks, the processor delivered up to 99 per cent higher scores than the AMD 9600X in Cinebench 2024’s multi-core test. On Blender’s “The Junk Shop” benchmark, it reportedly stayed ahead by as much as 85 per cent.

Intel also highlighted gaming improvements with the new chips. When compared to the earlier Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, the newer 270K Plus is claimed to deliver about 15 per cent better gaming performance on average. Titles such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Hogwarts Legacy, Star Wars Outlaws, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider were used to measure these gains.

The Core Ultra 5 250K Plus shows similar progress in gaming. Intel says it can offer around 13 per cent faster performance than the previous Core Ultra 5 245K when running games like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Battlefield 6, and Far Cry 6. The new CPU series supports the ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Hero motherboard, and as far as graphics are concerned, the CPU can support NVIDIA's latest RTX 5090 GPU; for storage support, the CPUs can go up to the Samsung SSD 990 Pro 4TB and can support Windows 11 Pro also.

Pricing Of The Chips

As far as pricing is concerned, the Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus chip cost starts at $199, which approximately translates to Rs 18,000, and the higher Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus chipset is priced at $299, which is approximately Rs 28,000. With sales scheduled to begin on March 26 through the company's dedicated online store/website, the company has also claimed new devices with the said processors will start coming out soon around the same time.
