Apple iOS 18 Rumours: Apple, a Cupertino-based tech giant, will host its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June and is expected to bring iOS 18 and other AI-powered software at the event. Amid the ongoing rumours around the upcoming OS, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has claimed Apple has sealed a deal with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to integrate the viral chatbot into iOS 18.

According to Gurman's 'Power On' newsletter, the tech giant may focus on practical tools that can used in the daily lives of consumers, and may not bring an in-house chat model. As an alternative, Apple has reportedly "sealed a deal" with OpenAI, which could also steal the limelight at WWDC 2024. Moreover, the tech giant is also considering an agreement with Google for Gemini AI, Gurman added.

Apple may bring an in-house alternative at a later stage. Moreover, Gurman hints the tech giant could market the AI features as a preview during the beta versions. The stable build could arrive in September 2024 (with a developer beta release expected on June 10), around the iPhone 16 series launch. Via its 'Project Greymatter' strategy, the company is said to bring AI enhancements to system apps like Safari, Photos and Notes.

iOS 18 Features (Leaked)

Improved notifications, voice memo transcription, AI photo editing, reply suggestions for emails and messages, AI-based emoji creation via prompts, revamped Siri, summarisation features (for missed notifications, text messages, web pages, news articles, notes, documents, and more media) and enhancements in Spotlight and Xcode are among some of the features tipped for iOS 18.

While some of these features may run on-device, other complicated ones may crave cloud processing (powered by M2 Ultra), where Apple may have to dictate its privacy terms. These will likely also be supported across iPhone, iPad and Mac units running on a 2023 Apple chip.
