GPT‑5 Launch Could Arrive in Early August
OpenAI’s long-awaited GPT‑5 is expected to launch in early August, according to reports. CEO Sam Altman announced the forthcoming model in a post related to the company’s performance at the 2025 IMO competition, though he noted GPT‑5 won’t reach gold-level accuracy immediately. The model is anticipated to offer unified reasoning and deeper contextual understanding.
Starlink Faces Global Outage—and Expands with New Satellites
Starlink suffered a global outage, disrupting internet access for about 2.5 hours across more than 140 countries. Service dropped to just 16% of normal capacity, impacting over 61,000 user reports starting mid-afternoon ET. The outage, attributed to internal network software failure, caused communication disruptions for Ukrainian military operations.

Service resumed later in the evening, and SpaceX called it one of the longest outages in its network’s history.
