iPhone 16e Teardown: Apple has just introduced the latest iPhone 16e the so-called affordable smartphone in the 16 series lineup, just a few days ago. The sale is currently live in many parts of the world including India as well. The iPhone 16e carries an old iPhone 14-like design, but inside it has the latest A18 chip, which is there to power Apple Intelligence. This also gives rise to speculation about what else is there inside the iPhone 16e, building on that a teardown video of this affordable model has just surfaced, in which its real design and specs have been revealed.
What Does The Tear Down Video Tell Us?
The video shared by REWA Technologies on its YouTube channel unveils what is lurking behind the covers of the affordable iPhone 16E. At first, the internal design of the iPhone 16e looks similar to the iPhone 15, the video starts with opening the two screws located near the USB Type-C port at the bottom.

Now Apple was obviously not going to make it easy for you to open it so the rear panel needs to be heated in order to open it. Then to separate the back panel from the device the battery and wireless charging connectors have to be detached. Apple has included a wireless charging coil in the iPhone 16e, but it does not support the MagSafe feature.
The Battery Is Bigger
Due to the smaller camera module and a single rear camera, you get a larger battery with a higher capacity. Now to remove the battery, which obviously has no pull tabs, electricity needs to be applied to remove the special adhesive that Apple uses. Now the video claims that the device has a 4005 mAh battery, contrary to earlier reports that claimed it to be 3961 mAh.
iPhone 16e Repairability
Turning the attention to its motherboard, in the iPhone 16e, Apple has used its C1 Cellular modem which is a first for Apple and is paired with an A18 chipset. It utilises 7-nanometer transceiver technology with the 4-nanometre baseband technology. The video also tells us that it is difficult to repair the iPhone 16e due to the A18 chip and its placement in the device.
The video from REWA Technologies shows that repairing the screen of the iPhone 16e might not be that difficult, and battery replacement is also easy. Furthermore, the video also shows that repairing the motherboard is not a big challenge either, but the difficulty comes in when the A18 chip is considered as it is embedded much deeper.
Apple has launched the iPhone 16e in India, starting at Rs 59,900. The base variant comes with 128GB of storage and is available in two color options: White and Black.
