Jio Telecom AI Platform: Jio has just revealed that it will create an open telecom AI platform in collaboration with AMD, Cisco and Nokia. The motive behind this is to make the network even more efficient and secure than before, and on top of that, this move will also reduce the technical costs that are incurred. This telecom AI platform plan was introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2025) which is going on in Barcelona currently, by Jio, AMD, Cisco, and Nokia.
This new Telecom AI Platform will harness a new central intelligence layer for digital and telecom services, in an effort to monetize network investments, this multi-domain intelligence framework will incorporate AI and automation across all layers of network operations.
"By harnessing agentic AI across all telco layers, we are building a multimodal, multidomain orchestrated workflow platform that redefines efficiency, intelligence, and security for the telecom industry," Mathew Oommen, Group CEO, Reliance Jio, said in a statement.
“AMD is proud to collaborate with Jio Platforms Limited, Cisco, and Nokia to power the next generation of AI-driven telecom infrastructure,” said Lisa Su, chair and CEO, of AMD.
How does it work?
The AI Platform will use open APIs to optimise functionality and capabilities and will not be tied to a specific LLM.
This new platform will utilise AI and automation to seamlessly identify problems and find appropriate solutions and churn out enhanced performance.
Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark stated that this technology will enhance network speed, security, and automation, ultimately improving user experience. Meanwhile, AMD CEO Lisa Su emphasized that their high-performance computer chips will power the platform, making it even more robust. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins highlighted that this partnership will drive a major transformation in the telecom sector through AI.
Jio will get it first
This new AI-based platform will be implemented on Jio Network first. After its testing on the Jio network its feasibility will be assessed the usefulness of the technology will be brought to the fore, and after that, it will be available to other telecom operators around the world. It is believed that this new AI tech will make the telecom industry more smarter, efficient and faster which will in fact enhance user experience.
