iPhone 17 Pro Max: Apple is gearing up for one of its biggest iPhone revamps yet. Come September, the iPhone 17 series will hit the stage—headlined by the feature-packed iPhone 17 Pro Max. Alongside it, we’ll see the standard iPhone 17, a high-end iPhone 17 Pro, and a fresh face: the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, which replaces the Plus model.

A New Look for the Pro Max

While the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to stick with a 6.9-inch display, the materials and overall design are getting a shake-up. Apple might swap out last year’s titanium frame for aluminium, pairing it with a hybrid rear panel made of aluminium and glass. That change could allow room for a larger battery, bumping up the thickness slightly to 8.725mm from 8.25mm.

One of the more noticeable tweaks may be the rear camera layout. Instead of the familiar square bump, leaks suggest a broader rectangular module made from aluminium. Some leaked CAD files show the LiDAR scanner and flash positioned unusually, hinting at deeper internal design changes.

New Colour Option

This year’s iPhone 17 Pro Max might debut in a Sky Blue finish, drawing inspiration from the M4 MacBook Air. Expect this alongside the familiar trio of Black, Silver, and White.

Performance and Hardware Boosts

Under the hood, Apple is reportedly introducing the A19 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s next-gen 3nm N3P process. This should deliver better efficiency and raw performance. The Pro Max model is also tipped to get 12GB of RAM and vapour chamber cooling—ideal for gaming and heavier workloads.

Battery life should get a minor lift, and reverse wireless charging (up to 7.5W) could finally make its debut, letting users juice up AirPods or other accessories. Wired charging is expected to remain at 35 W. Wi-Fi 7 and 5G support will be standard across the lineup, with Apple continuing to rely on Qualcomm modems and its own Wi-Fi chip.

Camera Upgrades Across the Board

For the first time, all three rear cameras—wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto—could offer 48 MP sensors. The telephoto lens might see a 3.5x optical zoom, with digital tricks pushing it to mimic 5x. On the front, a 24 MP camera is expected, and video capabilities are getting a serious lift too, with support for 8K video recording and dual video capture using front and rear cameras simultaneously.

When to Expect the Launch

Apple is likely to unveil the full iPhone 17 lineup between September 11 and 13, 2025. This includes the Pro Max, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and the new iPhone 17 Air.

Pricing in India

The iPhone 17 Pro Max may start at Rs 1,64,900 in India, reflecting higher component prices and import duties.

This refresh marks one of Apple’s most ambitious efforts to date—redefining not just performance, but how the iPhone looks and feels in your hand.
