Apple is preparing for its grand "Awe Dropping" event on September 9, when the new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are finally going to launch. The event will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 PM IST, bringing an end to the wait spanning a whole year for enthusiasts who have been tracking leaks and rumours religiously. As the clock ticks down, a couple of last-minute reports suggest some significant upgrades that might make this year's Pro models truly special.
1. Familiar Dimensions, Improved Displays
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are likely to retain their 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively, but brightness might get a boost. Apple might exceed the iPhone 16 Pro's 2,000-nit peak, providing a brighter screen that lasts longer, particularly when outdoors with direct sunlight.
2. Heavier Memory for Heavy Lifting
Both Pro models would also ship with more RAM, TrendForce says, up from 8GB today to 12GB. That upgrade would make the new iPhones faster in multitasking and AI-intensive tasks as well as more responsive and efficient.
3. Cooling Gets a Redesign
A redesigned thermal system is also in the works. Apple reportedly is developing a vapour chamber design, which will enable the iPhone 17 Pro to manage heavy workloads, gaming, and video processing for longer periods with less heat generation.
4. Pro Max with Larger Battery
The iPhone 17 Pro Max could at last reach the 5,000 mAh milestone—a first for Apple. If that is the case, it would place it head-to-head with Samsung's Galaxy flagships in terms of battery life, allowing users to enjoy more screen time between charges.
5. Camera Zoom Gets a Big Boost
Photography might receive a significant boost with an all-new 48MP telephoto lens replacing the 12MP one present in previous Pro phones. To go with the sensor improvement, Apple can also increase the zoom capability from 5x to up to 8x optical, thus making the Pro series a more capable competitor in mobile photography.
