Apple has finally taken the wraps off the iPhone 17 series, which includes major improvements in charging speed, particularly for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. An addition to this year's lineup is the iPhone Air, a lightweight and slim variant that inherits some features from last year's iPhones. In addition to the phones, Apple also launched the new wearables: Apple Watch Series 11, Watch Ultra 3, Watch SE 3, and AirPods Pro 3.

iPhone 17 Charging: up to 50% in 20 Minutes
One of the major highlights of the iPhone 17 lineup is its quicker wired charging. Apple says that the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max charge as much as 50 per cent in only 20 minutes when used with an appropriate USB Type-C charger with a rating of 40W or more. This is an improvement compared to the iPhone 16 lineup, which generally achieved the same charge within about 30 minutes.
Apple has also rolled out a new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter that is capable of providing up to 60W of output. The adapter, which costs $39 (around ₹3,400), supports fast charging for not only the iPhone 17 series but also for the iPhone Air, iPhone 16, and iPhone 15 series.
iPhone Air Maintains Slower Charging Speeds
While the base iPhone 17 models get the speed increase, the newly released iPhone Air has charging speeds comparable to the iPhone 16 range. That is to say, it takes longer to hit the 50 per cent threshold even with higher-wattage USB-C chargers.
Accessories Sold Separately
As predicted, Apple still sells charging accessories individually. The quicker USB Type-C charging cable is not included with the adapter, so customers will have to buy separately. The firm also ensures that the iPhone 17 lineup supports MagSafe charging, which reaches 50 per cent in around 30 minutes with a 30W or more adapter. MagSafe Chargers come in 1-metre and 2-metre variants, costing ₹4,500 and ₹5,500, respectively.
