What’s New with the iPhone 17 Pro?
The iPhone 17 Pro is shaping up to be a standout upgrade, especially in terms of design and performance. Apple is reportedly adopting a horizontal camera alignment — a shift from the diagonal and vertical setups of recent years. This includes three rear 48 MP sensors, arranged in a triangular shape, with the LiDAR sensor and flash repositioned.
Performance-wise, the phone will run on the cutting-edge A19 Bionic chip, likely built on a 2nm process, offering better efficiency and speed. Apple is also adding a vapour chamber cooling system, helping the device stay cool during heavy usage or gaming. Memory is getting a boost too, with 12GB RAM onboard.
The Pro will also feature enhanced photography and videography capabilities. All three rear lenses will support 8K video, and the front camera is jumping to 24 MP, making video calls and selfies sharper than ever.
Expected colour choices include black, silver, grey, dark blue, and a unique orange-copper finish.
iPhone 17 Air: Minimal, Ultra-Thin, and Light
Apple’s new iPhone 17 Air will prioritise portability and minimalism. At just 5.5 mm thick, it could become the thinnest iPhone ever released. Built with a titanium-aluminium alloy, the phone is expected to weigh only 145 grams, without compromising on build quality.
It will feature a 6.6-inch OLED display running at 120 Hz, although it won't support adaptive refresh rates like ProMotion. To maintain the slim profile, the rear houses a single 48 MP camera, while the front uses the same upgraded 24 MP sensor seen in the Pro models.
Battery size will be reduced — around 2,800 mAh — but Apple is reportedly introducing a new “Adaptive Power Mode” in iOS 26 to intelligently manage power consumption and extend daily use.
The design of the Air will mirror the Pro lineup, including the horizontal rear camera bar, creating a consistent aesthetic across models.
A New Direction — At a Cost
With the iPhone 17 series, Apple appears to be redefining its design strategy, pushing the envelope on thinness and performance. The Pro models are set to deliver top-tier hardware for power users and content creators, while the Air will appeal to those who value form factor and portability.

But these innovations come at a higher price. If you're planning to upgrade, be prepared to spend more this year. With ongoing changes in global manufacturing and supply chains, Apple’s pricing strategy reflects broader industry shifts.
More information is expected to roll out as we approach the official September launch — but one thing’s clear: Apple’s not just refreshing the iPhone — it’s reshaping it.
