iPhone 18 Pro Max: Apple is still far away from its announcement of the release of the iPhone 18 Pros, but this has not held back leaks from setting the tone for Apple’s expected 2026 flagship smartphones. Even at this point in advance, there are indications that Apple might be working on one of its most noticeable upgrades to its Pro smartphones in many years to come.
Right from the revamped front design and hugely changed cameras to the novel chip and memory design, the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max are already giving consumers reasons to change their minds on upgrades in the near future. Here’s what the leaks have pointed to so far.

A Cleaner Front Design May Finally Be Coming
The most noticeable change could happen just on the front side. According to rumours, Apple is looking into the implementation of under-display Face ID technology in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. If this happens, the Dynamic Island will either become much smaller or simply vanish away altogether.
The front camera might also shift to a hole near the top-left corner, opening up space for a considerably cleaner display. The inner makeover might provide the impression of everyday use being less crowded than it does on current iPhones, particularly when consuming video or playing games, even as the overall shape and frame remain rather like what they are on the iPhone 17 Pro models.
Rear Design Stays Familiar, With Subtle Tweaks
On the back, Apple is unlikely to reinvent the wheel. The triple-camera layout on a raised module is expected to continue, though minor refinements could be introduced. Leaks point to possible changes in the back glass finish and how it blends with the aluminium frame.
There are also whispers of new Pro-exclusive colour options in testing, including deeper and darker shades like burgundy, deep purple, or even a coffee-toned brown.
Camera Upgrades Could Go Beyond Software
Cameras remain a key focus area. One of the more interesting leaks suggests Apple may introduce a mechanical iris on at least one rear camera. This would allow variable aperture control, something iPhones have never offered before. This would help to ensure that depth control and exposure levels are handled better.
Additionally, another expected upgrade is the inclusion of a “three-layer stacked image sensor”, which is rumoured to come from Samsung. This technology is expected to ensure fast readout, noise reduction, and an expanded dynamic range. The aperture on the primary and telephoto cameras is also rumoured to receive an upgrade, contributing to better night photography capabilities.
Expected With The A20 Pro Chip
Internally, the A20 Pro chipset should be making its debut with the iPhone 18 Pro series. It will be built on the 2nm process by TSMC and may integrate the RAM on the same wafer as the rest of the chip, which includes the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine.
Such an integration could result in improved performance, increased power savings, and more stable temperatures. It may also result in additional internal space for the company to increase the battery size. Early estimates point to roughly 15 per cent faster performance and up to 30 per cent better efficiency, which could play a major role in on-device AI features under Apple Intelligence.
Battery And Connectivity Changes On The Cards
Battery life, especially in the case of the Pro Max variant, might receive a noticeable boost. The iPhone 18 Pro Max will reportedly be marginally thicker, likely to make way for a larger power cell. Rumours indicate this could be in the range of 5,100mAh capacities, which might also result in a heavier phone weighing over 240 grams.
On the connectivity aspect, Apple is expected to further enhance their in-house modem solution. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumoured to incorporate the C2 modem, with the return of 5G mmWave capabilities in selected markets, thereby bridging the performance gap in their offerings compared to those on Qualcomm modems in iPhones.
Display Sizes Expected to Remain the Same
Apple is likely to continue with the familiar display sizes. The iPhone 18 Pro might come with a 6.3-inch display, and the Pro Max model might come with a 6.9-inch display. Whether the Dynamic Island will be eliminated or shrunk down to nothing is still a matter of debate.
One thing which appears more definite is Apple’s desire to move towards a cleaner and more immersive front display experience.
Expected Launch Timeframe
If Apple releases devices at its usual intervals, expect the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026. The normal iPhone 18 model, however, may come later, perhaps in 2027, although Apple has yet to confirm that.
What About Pricing in India?
Of course, no official pricing has come from Apple, and leaks also haven't indicated a clear rise. Given the fact that the iPhone 17 Pro has already witnessed a notable price jump in India, Apple may decide not to hike prices in 2026 to ease off the pressure from its buyers.

Currently, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,34,900, and the Pro Max begins at Rs 1,49,900. Due to escalating component and memory costs, Apple’s final price may still change, but sticking to the same prices will help the company keep competitive against the several rival Android flagships available in the market today.
For the time being, all eyes are on how many of these leaks make it into the final product.
