Even before Apple released their new lineup of iPhone 17 phones, rumours swirled of what could become their iPhone 18 Pro successor. Although nothing is certain yet, early indications point toward an upgrade that refines Apple's design language while packing in some major internal upgrades we haven't seen for some time. Though its overall look might remain familiar, thickening and weight increases suggest Apple could be prepping for larger batteries, while moving parts of Face ID that may change under the display could completely streamline the front face. Alongside the likely 2nm A20 Pro chip upgrade and thermal management improvements, the 18 Pro looks set to make an impressive generational leap in recent history.
Below is a complete breakdown of everything we know so far.

iPhone 18 Pro: Specifications (Expected)
Apple isn’t expected to drastically overhaul the design, but subtle changes are likely.
Design and build
A slightly thicker frame is expected, primarily to house a larger battery.
Weight may see a bump as well — the iPhone 18 Pro Max could touch ~243g.
The front may look much cleaner if Apple succeeds in hiding parts of the Face ID system under the display.
The Dynamic Island could shrink, giving more uninterrupted screen space.
Display
Screen size is expected to remain unchanged.
Under-display Face ID would be the biggest visual upgrade if Apple pushes it through.
Chipset and connectivity
Expected to run the new A20 Pro chip, likely Apple’s first 2 nm processor built on TSMC’s next-gen node.
A custom C2 modem may replace Qualcomm’s 5G chip.
Expected support for mmWave 5G in the US.
Apple may also test some form of satellite-backed 5G, a big step forward for rural coverage.
Thermal improvements
Rumours suggest a stainless steel vapour chamber for better heat dissipation during gaming and heavy workloads.
iPhone 18 Pro: Camera (Expected)
Apple is likely to continue with a triple rear camera setup.
A new three-stack Samsung sensor may be used for the main camera.
Support for variable aperture could appear — allowing the camera to adapt better to bright and low-light scenes.
The Camera Control button introduced in the iPhone 16 series may be simplified, dropping touch-based inputs in favour of pure pressure sensitivity.
iPhone 18 Pro: Colours (Expected)
Early testing reportedly includes:
- Burgundy
- Coffee
- Purple
Only one of these models may make the final cut; Apple could continue its trend of translucent or colour-matched rear glass in recent models.

iPhone 18 Pro: Price and Availability (Expected)
Launch window: September 2026.
Pricing: It is expected that Apple will keep pricing levels similar to that of its previous iPhone 17 Pro devices unless major hardware updates warrant an increase. Historically, they have maintained stable tiers, so this seems likely.
Final Thoughts
Apple's latest flagship iPhone 18 Pro appears set to follow their traditional formula of familiar design on the outside and major upgrades inside. A thicker body suggests improved battery life, while an under-display Face ID could prove one of the more elegant design refinements seen recently. The new 2nm A20 Pro chip, improved heat management and upgraded camera hardware give the early leaks real weight. It’s still early days, but the picture forming around the iPhone 18 Pro is a compelling one — a device that focuses on maturity, efficiency and long-term performance rather than gimmicks.
