Apple’s latest iOS 26 update is off to a rocky start, with frustrated iPhone owners taking to social media to complain about rapid battery drain. The software, first revealed at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in June, began rolling out earlier this week.

Users Report Sudden Battery Issues

Almost immediately after updating, many users noticed severe drops in battery performance. On X, one person wrote, "Just fully charged my phone 58 minutes ago, and it's already down to 79%. iOS 26 is turning my phone into a brick."

Another user echoed the frustration, posting, "Dude, wtf. My phone's been burning up since the update to iOS 26, and voila, my battery health just fell down to 80%. I haven't even changed any charging habits."

A third added, "iOS 26 evidently has a battery issue. I used my work phone less than I usually do in the mornings, and I'm already down to 50%."

Recent Apple Criticism Continues

The backlash comes on the heels of complaints about the upcoming iPhone 17’s design, which some fans labelled “ugly”, according to the New York Post.

Apple’s Response

While the company has not directly addressed the new flood of complaints, Apple did issue guidance in a support document, reassuring users that such problems can be temporary. It explained that after “completing an update, particularly a major release, you might notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance.”

Apple has faced similar issues with past iOS rollouts, with performance often stabilising after background processes finish. Still, users remain impatient as they wait for improvements.
