MICROSOFT has announced it will be rolling out Microsoft Phone Link for iOS on Windows 11 for easy connection between iPhone and Windows machines. Phone Link supports 39 languages and is available in 85 markets, according to the blog post. The feature has been available on Android for a long time. It enables instant access to phone notifications and data.
Microsoft, via a blog post, shared information about this new update. It further adds that, once configured, the feature will offer "basic" support for calls, contacts management and messages. They would receive notifications and can take actions from a Windows 11 running machine.

Supported functionalities
Plus, It also supports iCloud integration to access photos of an iPhone. As per the FAQ of Microsoft, once you pair the iPhone and a Windows 11 device, you can answer and make calls, access notifications, reply to messages and access the contacts list.
How to connect your iPhone?
Step 1: Launch the Phone Link application on your PC
Step 2: Install the "Link to Windows" app from the Apple App Store
Step 3: Switch 'On' Bluetooth mode and ensure both devices are discoverable
Step 4: From the Windows app, select "iPhone" and scan the QR code displayed on the Windows app
Step 5: Allow the necessary permissions that would allow Windows to access your smartphone data. Lastly, configure notifications settings.
How to disconnect the app?
Step 1: Open the Phone Link app on Windows
Step 2: Head to "Settings" and locate "My Devices"
Step 3: Remove the linked device you no longer wish to pair
To disconnect the connection completely, unpair the Bluetooth devices too.
Supported devices
"Phone Link for iOS requires iPhone with iOS 14 or higher, Windows 11 device, Bluetooth connection and the latest version of the Phone Link app," Microsoft said. At the moment, it is unavailable on iPad(iPadOS) or macOS. Plus, device compatibility might vary depending on the region. Further, "Messaging feature is limited by iOS. Image/video sharing and group messaging is not supported," it adds.
Speaking of other updates on Microsoft, the company is working to optimise AI capabilities across its product lineup such as Bing Search, Microsoft Office and more.
