X Video Tab: X (formerly Twitter), is taking its chance at appealing to users who just can't get enough of those reels amid the drama that is surrounding TikTok and its future in the U.S.

To get the best out of the situation, the Elon Musk-owned company has launched a dedicated video tab/feed with the aim to provide users with a new seamless way to engage with video content, this move may possibly be to turn them away from rival platforms, such as TikTok.

This strategic decision comes as TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, encounters possible restrictions in the U.S. Although current users can still access the app, it has been removed from the Apple and Google app stores, preventing new downloads and updates.

The new video tab on X, located in the app's bottom bar, offers users an organized and streamlined way of accessing and discovering new video content. While users were able to scroll through videos on their main feed and watch videos by tapping on a specific video this new way provides a more easy and convenient access.

“An immersive new home for videos is rolling out to users in the US today,” X stated in a post. The tab is currently live for users in the US at the time of writing. There is no information yet on when or if it will be available in additional markets.

The timing of this launch is particularly worth mentioning, as it coincides with uncertainties that TikTok is currently surrounded with. Now it is yet to be seen if this is a short-term move for quick gains or a long-term strategy.

This isn’t X’s first venture into video; the platform released a standalone TV app last year and has been placing greater emphasis on video content as part of Musk’s goal to transform it into an “everything app.”
