J recharge plan: Reliance Jio has added a new prepaid recharge to its portfolio, but this one is a little different from the usual data or calling packs. Priced at just Rs. 55, the new recharge is meant for users who prefer watching live TV on their smartphones. So, if you already have an active Jio connection and simply want access to television channels without paying for a bigger entertainment pack, this could be worth a look.
The recharge is focused entirely on live TV streaming and offers access to more than 1,000 channels across different categories. That includes entertainment, news, sports, movies, music, kids' content, and regional programming.
Jio Rs. 55 Prepaid Plan Benefits
Unlike a standard prepaid recharge, the Rs. 55 pack isn't designed for internet usage. It includes only 10MB of data because its main purpose is to unlock live TV content on the JioTV app.
Once activated, the recharge gives subscribers 30 days of access to over 1,000 live TV channels. Jio says the lineup includes channels from some of the country's biggest broadcasters, including JioStar, Sony Entertainment, Sun TV Network, Warner Bros. Discovery, and ETV. So whether you're following live cricket, watching daily soaps, catching up on the news, or browsing regional channels, everything is available in one place.
HD Channels Are Included Too
The good part is that the voucher isn't limited to standard definition content. It also includes HD channels, allowing users to stream supported content in higher quality, provided they have a good internet connection.
There is one thing to keep in mind, though. These channels won't be available through the broadcasters' own apps. Instead, you'll have to download the JioTV app and log in using the Jio number that has been recharged with the Rs. 55 voucher. Once that's done, the channels become accessible within the app.
