Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has already found a place inside several gaming-orientated smartphones this year, and it now appears that the lineup is set to expand further. Built on TSMC’s 4nm process, the chipset is designed to deliver high efficiency and burst performance, making it a strong option for devices positioned in the performance-led mid-range category. A new leak from China now suggests that another Snapdragon 8s Gen 4-powered smartphone is under development, and the early information indicates a device with unusually large battery capacity and a high-refresh display.

A New Device With Performance Tweaks

According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the yet-unnamed smartphone is being prepared with hardware-level chip enhancements that could help the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 reach more consistent peak performance. The device is rumoured to feature a 6.78-inch flat LTPS display with a 1.5K resolution. The refresh rate is still unclear but is expected to be either 144 Hz or 165 Hz, both commonly used in gaming-centric handsets.

A Massive Battery Points to a Different Strategy

One of the most surprising elements in the leak is the battery capacity. The smartphone is tipped to house a 9,000mAh battery, placing it among the largest batteries seen in this segment. This positions the device squarely in the performance-plus-endurance category. Although the tipster did not explicitly name the model, references to the word “Turbo” strongly suggest that this could be the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 Pro.

Rumours also hint that the same hardware might be rebranded globally as a Poco F8, following Xiaomi’s pattern of regional diversification.

Growing Competition Around Ultra-Large Batteries

This leak arrives at a time when multiple brands are experimenting with extremely large battery capacities. Honour is expected to introduce the Honour GT 2 with a similar 9,000mAh battery. Meanwhile, the rumoured OnePlus Ace 6 Pro Max is said to carry an 8,000mAh pack, signalling a trend toward extreme battery endurance.

Looking Back at the Turbo 4 Pro

For context, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro launched in China in April this year, priced at CNY 2,199 (roughly Rs. 25,700). Its global counterpart, the Poco F7 5G, arrived in India starting at Rs. 31,999. Both models use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and come with a 7,550mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. They also feature 6.83-inch OLED displays with 1.5K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 20-megapixel selfie camera.
