OnePlus has officially begun pushing out the stable OxygenOS 16 update for the OnePlus Nord 4 in India, marking one of the biggest software leaps for the device yet. Built on Google’s latest Android 16 foundation, the rollout introduces a refreshed design language, deeper customisation layers, upgraded AI capabilities, and under-the-hood performance improvements that aim to make the Nord 4 feel visibly slicker. The company confirmed the rollout on its community forum, adding that availability in other regions will follow in the coming weeks. The update arrives with the build number CPH2661_16.0.1.301(EX01).

A New Visual Identity

OxygenOS 16 leans into a Liquid Glass-inspired UI anchored by Gaussian blur effects, rounded elements, and soft translucency across Quick Settings, the Home Screen, and the App Drawer. The interface also introduces redesigned icons crafted specifically for dark mode. Text labels under icons have been removed to create a cleaner aesthetic, while grid layouts and folder structures have been optimised to reduce visual clutter.

Deeper Customisation and New-Age Themes

The update continues OnePlus’ push toward personal expression. Users get new AI-powered Flux themes, motion wallpapers, and the ability to set motion photos or videos as wallpaper with AI-driven depth effects. Widget names can be customised, and a new option lets users place custom text directly on the Lock Screen for more personal control. As the company notes, "A new option to set custom text on your Lock screen gives you more freedom for personal expression."

AI Features Step Up

OxygenOS 16 brings a more capable AI suite. AI Photos gains video editing tools such as splitting, merging, and playback adjustments. AI Portrait Glow aims to fix lighting challenges using computational enhancement. The update also introduces improved AI writing tools, updates to AI Notes and AI Recorder, and adds Plus Mind to Mind Space, which OnePlus says is designed to recognise on-screen content and capture it.

Performance Enhancements Across the Board

Users can expect smoother animations, including fluid drag-and-drop interactions for widgets and icons, and dynamic light-field motion effects powered by the Luminous Rendering Engine. OnePlus says app launch speeds have improved, gaming and video playback feel more stable, camera sessions can run longer, cached video previews open faster, and tiered performance management adapts more intelligently when power-saving mode is active.
