Google Meet has crashed for many users in India, causing panic among offices and morning meetings being interrupted. The video-conferencing app, upon which millions rely for their daily work calls, began malfunctioning in late morning — and the timing could not have been worse.
Downdetector indicated a massive spike in reports around 11:32 AM, with the number of reports exceeding over 1,700 by the hour. Most users are receiving a 502 error, meaning Google’s servers are facing issues.

What people are experiencing
Users have reported everything from frozen screens to complete lockouts across X (the company formerly known as Twitter) and other social platforms. The outage seems to be total: It has seen heavy disruptions in major metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai.
And as of this writing, Google Meet is still not working for us on our end, so it has been well over two hours at this point, and there has been no acknowledgement from Google publicly.

What we know so far
At the moment, there is no official word or clarification from Google. The 502 error is an indication that something has gone wrong on the server; however, it’s unclear whether this might be a bad configuration somewhere, a regional infrastructure failure or part of some larger outage.

Since Google Meet is a key element of many users’ work, its extended downtime tends to have rippling effects. Offices depending on Meet for client calls, internal reviews and scheduled team sessions have been forced to resort to backup platforms — or just postpone those meetings.
This story will be updated if Google provides an update or explains what is causing the issue, but for now Meet users from coast to coast in India are going to have to wait.
