MediaTek has announced its Dimensity 9300 chipset as a direct rival to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The processor will likely power the new Vivo X100 series that is set for a China release. For starters, the chips offer up to 15 per cent single-core and 40 per cent multi-core performance upgrades compared to the previous generation. For efficiency, MediaTek claims an up to 33 per cent power saving than the previous gen models.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Features

Dimensity 9300 offers WQHD screens with up to 180Hz refresh rate. It sports an "anti-burn-in technology" to tackle the problem of AMOLED screens, according to the company. The flagship 3rd gen 4nm octa-core chip offers Arm Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 cores at 3.25GHz and 2.0GHz and Arm Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU with 12 cores.

It supports LPDDR5T RAM and "UFS 4 + MCQ" memory support. For AI-based enhancements, it ships with a MediaTek APU 790 processing unit offering support for Google Ultra HDR (Android 14), AI depth engine, 33 billion parameters and 45 per cent more power efficiency.

For cellular connectivity, the chip offers "Sub-6GHz (FR1), mmWave (FR2), 2G-5G multi-mode," 5G, NavIC L5, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It supports a camera sensor of up to 320MP and 8K video recording. With these powerful specifications, the CPU aims to lock horns with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that may debut on upcoming flagships like the iQOO 12 series, OnePlus 12 5G and more.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Phones

While a comprehensive list is yet to be available via the leaks channel, reports claim that some models in the Vivo X100 series may debut with the Dimensity 9300 chipset.
